I stayed at the Hudson Hotel while I was in NY. I tried to take some snaps of my room but it was too dark so just check out the link! It had great breakfast and bar and a cool vibe but I don't think the rooms are designed for two people, they are the opposite of literally everything else in New York- super tiny!!

Day Three: Madison Avenue & Time Square
I'm back in the UK now, feeling very jetlagged and a bit sad to have left New York! Its such an amazing city and it was such a fleeting trip. If we weren't saving for our wedding I think Nick and I would be saving to go back together as soon as possible!!
I just wanted to share a few more pics with you of Madison Avenue and Time Square. This area doesn't have the same kind of vibe as the Meatpacking district and is world apart from Williamsburg! It feels a bit like Oxford Street and Leicester Square in London, just a lot bigger!!

Day Two: Meatpacking & Williamsburg
We started our day in the most perfect way, an ultra massive/ supersize american style breakfast in an amazing supersize diner!
This was the day I was really excited about and the amazing weather helped too!! The Meatpacking district is lower rise and more open than most areas of Manhattan, so we could actually feel the sun on our skin!
It has the most amazing/ perfectly edited selection of high end stores and boutiques my fav being Jeffrey which is my dream store from the Tom Ford make up to the Celine knits!
From here we crossed Brooklyn bridge to Williamsburg. Such a cool, relaxed area with cute coffee shops/ bars/ restaurants, indie boutiques and great thrift and vintage, it felt like Hackney by the Hudson!

The cobbled tree lined streets in the residential areas in Chelsea and Meatpacking are a.maze.ing! |

Beacons Closet is one of my favourite stores, stocking vintage and modern designer at thrift store prices! (I'll post my finds when I get back to the UK!) |

Literally never seen a Barbers look so cool (didn't see the haircuts though!) |

New York Day One: Nolita
As its now pretty late and I can feel the tinges of jetlag taking hold, I'm going to keep this brief and picture based! Safe to say it was a gorgeous, inspirational day.
Knitted bikes!! |
Cliche I know, but so NY! |
We stopped for the most amazing lunch at Balthazar. French bistro style food in the most beautiful setting |
Sadly none of that for me, clear head needed for more shopping! |
Halloween offerings! |
Autumnal Bouquet's |
I can't really argue with that! |
New York, New York!!
I'm going to be in New York for the next few days, wohooo!!! I will try to post every evening while I'm here, so they will be oddly timed posts due to time zones! I'm so excited I love this city so much!
Amazing skyline taken from www.earthinpictures.com Hopefully I will get my own photo before the day is out! |

Reception for Tacita Dean 'Film'
Last night was not a usual tuesday evening for me! I was lucky enough to be invited, as Nick's guest, to the reception for the new Turbine Hall, Unilever series; Tacita Dean 'Film'
Tacita Dean herself gave us an introduction to her work and the instillation. It was a privilege to hear her talk so passionately about her work and the importance of analogue techniques, infact she reminded me very much of my sister and her approach to the medium of photography. Both very inspirational, feisty women!
As we were leaving we were also treated to Deans new book, I haven't had time to read it just yet (!!) but the working sketches and plans alongside film stills jumped out at me.
Walking across the Millennium bridge from Tate Modern back to St Pauls really was the perfect end to the evening!
We were welcomed into a very dark Turbine Hall at the Tate Modern by a glass of bubbly to enjoy whist taking in the 'Film'. The way Dean celebrates analogue processes through her work gives the film a heart, the cutting and hand tinting is a welcome change to the over-processed digital media that surrounds us. I was already in love with the film and the stunning austere setting of the turbine hall magnified its visual impact.
Dinner was served on the mezzanine level overlooking the turbine hall. I don't think I have ever enjoyed a meal with such a view! As a member of The Tate it was amazing seeing it in such a new light.
