Alice in Wonderland

As it is my sister, Melinda Gibson's last day in Finland, at the opening of a year-long exhibition 'Alice in Wonderland' I thought it only right to draw attention to an amazing exhibition and my sister's creative genius!
These images are taken from a series called 'The Photograph As Contemporary art' There is a perfect description of it and the way Melinda works in 100Words magazine.

"Through the hands of Melinda Gibson, Charlotte Cotton's seminal publication becomes a worthy exhibit in its own right alongside the photomontages. In its entirety, the work brings together an archived version of contemporary photography in its continuous struggle to become accepted among the arts."

This is a beautiful online magazine used to exhibit and highlight the best contemporary art photography around the world. Check it out if you're running low on inspiration. Amazing.

Dior Illustrated: René Gruau and the Line of Beauty

So in my usual style I dragged Nick along to the Dior Illustrated exhibition at Somerset House on its final day!! Despite the crowds it was well worth the effort.

I have been inspired by Gruau's illustrations since I was at college, the undulating use of line and graphic use of colour have given me drawing envy on more than one occasion!

Seeing the illustrations against the final ads they were used in emphasised their modernity and cheeky humour. That smirk stayed with me as I left the exhibition dreaming of Dior and longing for the release of season 4 of Mad Men on dvd!

2010 in pictures

2010... what a rollercoaster of a year.... There has been amazing highs of new homes and jobs engagements and sillyness, there has also been the terrible sadness of absent friends and opportunities lost. Its been a year of re-prioritising the important things in life: love, family, friends and creativity.

So here's to the new year and all the adventures and blogging yet to ensue!

Must get better at this!!! Very belated Xmas post!

So we went from our amazing little Hackney Xmas to the wild, white fields of Yorkshire!

After my first white Xmas, curled up in the most idillic country pubs with various small animals to keep me amused, I really didn't think things could get much better.... Then on Christmas morning after already being very spoilt by my amazing Nick with an Annina Vogel horseshoe necklace and Byredo Bal D'Afrique perfume (both of which I had been coverting for some time!!) Then at 12pm on Christmas day 2010, Nick knelt down in the Yorkshire snow and...

Wooooooooohooooooooooooo!!!!! Even now on the 16th Jan its still sinking in!!!!!!!!!!!!!
