NWFW AW12/13... Diffusions
Last season one well known editor sat down at the Marc Jacobs show and said 'lets see what we'll be wearing next season then!' Such is the way Marc Jacobs has informed trend over the past years. I'm not sure if that will be taken literally this season but what drama and creativity! Something we see less and less on the catwalks... economic downturn blah, blah, blah felt so refreshing to be woken up by this show, to have our ideas of what is beautiful challenged, I really haven't stopped thinking about this show since it came out....
The came his diffusion collection, Marc by Marc Jacobs. Although these two collections tend not to be related this season they couldn't be more worlds apart, from the fantastical eccentric world of the main line to the easy, desirable world of her little sister, Marc!
So from one of the masters to a relative newbie to fashion.... Victoria Beckham.... yes I know I can't believe I'm bogging about a former spice girl either. Much as it pains me to say both her ranges, mainline and the second season of Victoria by Victoria Beckham are really great collections. From the structured almost military lines of the mainline range to the quirky prints and easy daywear of her diffusion range these are a couple of collections of fab frocks with cleaver and at times witty attention to detail... feels good to finally have got that off my chest, feels almost cathartic, like I'm in some kind of self help group!
Fabrications, proportion and print... amazing. The collection I have found hardest to edit. All images courtesy of Style.com |
Just love the geek chic, lazer cut velvet and metallic jaquards add a touch of understated glam! |

NWFW AW12/13... small but perfectly formed
We all know New York is home to some of the most well known and commercially successful fashion houses but it also nurtures some of the lesser known brands (in relative terms- we're not talking Lulu Kennedy's Fashion East here!) which add a quirky edge to the week.
Not exactly a newbie but Karen Walker's playful use of prints and silhouette always seem new and fresh to me!! |
Suno does it again, with mix and match prints set to continue throughout the season. |

And so it begins! (and I try to catch up!!)
So NYFW AW12/13 has begun in earnest and after being swept away to a Dorset hideaway for the weekend (more about that later!) I'm now scrabbling about to catch up! My plan this season is to edit, edit, edit!! So hopefully posting little and often then we'll get there!

Swing Patrol
A little note to say after many months of threatening it, Nick and I are finally going to take up dancing, I think it will be hilarious/ potentially dangerous due to the length of our limbs and general lack of co-ordination but we're going to give it a good go anyway!!
2012
Happy (belated) New Year! I have to say I've got a really good feeling about this one, last year had many ups and downs, a hard grafting year for everyone I know. I think this year is going to show the rewards of last years hard work, well I hope so anyway!!
This also going to be the most incredible year for me and Nick as we are getting married in less than five months, I don't think I've ever been more excited!!

A little motto my sister sent me, we've got this as our saying for 2012! |
This was on a wall on brick lane, love the idea of letting things go (also love the note about letting go of the monsters under your bed!) |
